June 2016

1) Once again, a great turnout with several new faces.  There was also a plethora of great commercial beers.

2) The National Homebrewers Conference was great fun.  We poured beer on Thursday and Friday night.  Joe O’Keefe, Rob Farrell, and John Jester all had beers in the final round of the competition.  About 30 CRABSters attended.  You can read a recap at http://www.benbrew.com/NHC/NHC2016/nhc2016.html

3) The CRABS food-beer pairing was a success, despite the weather.  Several nice foods and brews were brought, and we got to enjoy Rob’s bar.  Congratulations to Greg Thompson and Lisa Klein for bringing the winning pairing.

4) The Guild summer picnic had a nice showing despite it being on Memorial Day Weekend.  Ben won the wheat beer contest with a Belgian witbier.

5) MASHOUT is coming up!  Go to http://www.campmashout.com to sign up.

6) There will be a charity homebrew event called Hometown Brewdown in Catonsville on July 23, 4-8 PM.  If you’d like to pour some of your beer, contact Ben Blank at blankben@hotmail.com

7) There was no competition this month.  Next month’s competition will be wheat beers.  In August it will be Resurrection clones.

8) Go to http://crabsbrew.org for CRABS-related information.  The 2016 CRABS competition schedule is at http://crabsbrew.org/competition_schedule
