August 2020

We had our first in-person meeting since February.  Since Heavy Seas still does not have indoor seating, we met in the parking lot across the street from Checkerspot Brewing.  There were about a dozen of us.  There were also other groups scattered around the lot who had brought chairs and tables.  Rather than have a table for folks to crowd around, we kept socially distant by spacing chairs 6 feet apart and having folks walk around serving their beer to people one at a time.

Judy came over for a while.  She said that business had been quite good despite the pandemic, and can sales were going well.  She was doubtful that Homebrew Extravaganza would happen since the city currently has a limit on the size of gatherings.  Craig, who owns and brews at Farmacy Brewing, also said that business was thriving.  He brought several cans of his products.  Les and Trevor 2.0 were there.  Les is in the process of starting up Heart & Solar Brewing, and Trevor 2.0 is the head chef at Checkerspot. They brought several growlers and bottles of pilot brews made by Trevor 2.0, who has only been brewing for 4.5 months.

The weather was great, and since MASHOUT was cancelled this year, our meeting served as a sort of mini-MASHOUT.

There was no business since all events have been cancelled, and we did not have a competition because social distancing would have made it difficult.  We just had a good time sampling and socializing.

Next meeting: Wednesday September 16.
