October 2018

1) Six CRABSters poured beer at this year’s Homebrew Extravaganza, which was held at Checkerspot Brewing for the first time ever.  There were more than 30 beers, and three CRABSters were in the top half of the popular vote.  Rob Kiernan was 12th, Ben Schwalb was 10th, and Jason Heinen was 4th.

2) Fire sale on CRABS T-shirts.  Only $5 each.  For available sizes and designs, contact Joe O’Keefe at jfo363@verizon.net

3) Maryland beer laws are not friendly to breweries.  An attorney named Greg Parnett is trying to set up a grass roots organization to study and possibly influence legislation.  If you’re interested in joining, contact Joe at jfo363@verizon.net

4) The Guild holiday party will be held on Saturday December 1st at Heavy Seas.  Tickets are available now at https://mdhomebrewers.ticketleap.com/2018-guild-holiday-party/ .  Nine clubs have signed up for club night.  Our theme will be Celtic Christmas.  Our beers are lined up; we just need to figure out food and decorations.  Please solicit businesses such as restaurants, bars, etc for donation raffle prizes.  Rob Kiernan has a form letter you can use; contact him at rmkst16@yahoo.com

5) This Saturday is the deadline to register and submit entries for the MALT Turkey Shoot.  Go to https://turkeyshoot.brewcompetition.com/ for information.

6) We will pour beer once again at the annual Brewers Ball in March 2019 in DC.  The paperwork is in process.
