September 2023

1. MASHOUT was a great success, with great weather for the most part, and lots of good people, beers, and food. Most of the work in making this event possible was done by CRABSters, particularly Trevor 1.0.

2. BaltiBrew will NOT have ChiliBrew next month due to difficulty in getting permits.

3. The 13th annual Homebrew Extravaganza will be held at the new Checkerspot Brewing location at 1421 Ridgely Street, Baltimore, on Wednesday October 18. The event goes from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, but competitors get in at 5:00 to set up and taste the other homebrews. If you want to enter a beer, contact Judy at judy@checkerspotbrewing.com

4. Katie’s Bridge to Independence went well. There were fewer people than usual due to rain, but it still managed to raise $4000.

5. Crabs4CRABS was a success. The crabs were great and many folks attended. There was some rain but we were under a covered pavilion.

6. The Guild holiday party will be held on Saturday December 2 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at Bay Life (Brookeville Beer Farm’s production facility in Jessup). There is lots of parking. This year’s benefitting charities are Pints for Prostates, House of Ruth, Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, and Animal Advocates of Howard County. CRABS will have a table. Possible themes are German street vendor, backwoods (serving venison and other meats), and the movie Airplane. We will decide which theme at the October meeting.
